Arcane's 'Wasteland' and Stromae's enemy keep Riot Games Music busy
Royal & the Serpent's song from the show's second season has passed 23 million views, nearly two years after it went up.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Royal & the Serpent - “Wasteland” (from Arcane Season 2) [Official Music Video]
Nothing new went up on Riot Games Music, and the channel hardly needed it. Three songs from Arcane, the League of Legends series on Netflix, did the work, each drawing about 20,000 views a day.
The busiest was Royal & the Serpent's "Wasteland," a music video posted almost two years ago and now past 23 million views. It was written by Ryan Jillian Santiago, the singer behind the Royal & the Serpent name, with Alex Seaver and Simon Wilcox. Seaver also produced it, and his name runs through all three credits as the soundtrack's executive music producer.
The other two are versions of the same song. Stromae and Pomme's "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" ("My Best Enemy"), a French duet about loving and hating the same person, has its visualizer past 70 million views. A later lyric video adds Chris Martin of Coldplay, who sings an English verse of his own, and it has gathered 23 million in a year and a half.
The whole channel ran close to its usual pace and gained about a thousand subscribers. Among the music labels and music media channels near its size, it added the most views over the seven days, with Paste Magazine and MarvelMusicVEVO not far behind. A soundtrack can outlast its season, and Arcane's is still being played.
