Adamantium and mayhem: David Fleming's Wolverine score holds MarvelMusicVEVO's floor
Three cues from the Marvel's Wolverine soundtrack, all released together 38 days ago, are the tracks listeners keep returning to while the label channel posted nothing new.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
David Fleming - Adamantium (From "Marvel's Wolverine"/Audio Only)
What does the official home of Marvel's soundtracks play when it has nothing new to put out? This week the answer was the claws. MarvelMusicVEVO posted no uploads, and the videos gathering the most daily views are three pieces of David Fleming's score for Marvel's Wolverine, the game from Insomniac, all put up on the same day a little over five weeks ago.
"Adamantium" sits on top, named after the metal bonded to Logan's skeleton, and it has passed 64,000 views. "His Creed Is Mayhem" follows, and the title points at Sabretooth, Victor Creed, Wolverine's oldest enemy in the comics. "Weapon & Master" is close behind it. All three are audio-only uploads, music with no picture, which makes the steady interest a little more telling: people are coming for the sound.
Fleming is no stranger to big scores. He has long worked in Hans Zimmer's orbit, and the Wolverine cues put him alongside the composers whose Avengers, Thor and Loki themes fill the rest of this catalog.
The channel as a whole ran close to its ordinary pace, adding about 1.7 million views over the week and a thousand subscribers. Among the music labels and music media channels of its size, that was the second-largest gain of the week, just a hair behind Paste Magazine, while Riot Games Music and ShaniaTwainVEVO ran well below their usual days.
