Majid Jordan's 'Two Roads' and a P3 anniversary hold OVO Sound's quiet corner
The Toronto label founded by Drake, Noah "40" Shebib and Oliver El-Khatib posted nothing new, and its three busiest videos are all short release reminders.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
“Two Roads” from @majidjordan Out Now #majidjordan
What is playing on OVO Sound when the label posts nothing? Mostly its own reminders. No new uploads went up over the past seven days, and the videos still moving are small announcement shorts for records already out.
Two of them belong to Majid Jordan, the Toronto duo of singer Majid Al Maskati and producer Jordan Ullman, who have been on OVO since "Hold On, We're Going Home" with Drake made their names. A short telling fans that "Two Roads" is out now is about five weeks old, and a spring short simply titled "COLD" sits beside it. The third is a nod to PARTYNEXTDOOR: "P3 10-YEAR EDITION OUT NOW," marking a decade since PARTYNEXTDOOR 3, the 2016 album that carried "Come and See Me" with Drake. None of the three draws more than a handful of views a day, which is the honest size of a release reminder on a label channel.
The channel as a whole ran at a little over half its usual daily pace, about 110,000 views for the week, and its 644,000 subscribers held steady. Among the music labels and music media channels close to it in size, it gathered the fewest views of the group, while Riot Games Music and alanjacksonVEVO kept humming on older hits. For OVO, the catalog does the talking until the next drop arrives.
