Instant ramen, canned corn, Babybel cheese and a jalapeño: Nick DiGiovanni gives his fellow cooks a modest starting point before bringing out the lobster, truffles and Wagyu.

His new "$1 vs $10,000 Cooking Challenge" drew roughly 373,000 views in a little over two hours today. Nick competes alongside Bayashi, Chef Rush, Max and Guga, with mystery boxes that become progressively more extravagant as the field shrinks.

The opening round makes the most of the supermarket ingredients. Chef Rush builds a crispy ramen nest, Max uses crushed noodles to coat jalapeño poppers, and Nick turns the corn into soup. Guga makes street corn fritters; Bayashi sticks with spicy miso ramen.

Then comes the awkward part: there is no independent judge. The cooks have to taste one another's dishes and vote someone out. Elimination doesn't necessarily mean leaving the kitchen, either. Bayashi later returns to conduct a blind tasting, a change of authority that has viewers talking about his reappearance and his gracious response to being voted off.

A middle round introduces whole chicken, sourdough, honeycomb, finger limes and jackfruit. Max ends up doing push-ups after asking Chef Rush for help cutting into the fruit. The video also includes a paid Grand Theft Auto VI segment featuring Nick's recreation of the game's Prairie Burger.

By the final mystery box, the remaining cooks face a different problem: making Matsusaka A5 Wagyu, blue European lobster, Burgundy truffles, Almas caviar and expensive chocolate belong on the same plate.
