That extended view drew about 2.3 million views in its first six hours, an unusually fast start for one of the channel's long broadcasts. It offers something different from a conventional results program: Kornacki himself is the through line, rather than one contributor in a changing lineup.

Known for working through electoral maps at the big board, Kornacki has moved from the possibilities of polling to the arithmetic of actual votes. As we reported here, his pre-election analysis put Democrats' national polling advantage beside a more difficult Senate map.

The stakes are no longer hypothetical. In separate election-night uploads, NBC News projects that Democrats will take control of the House and that Democrat Annie Andrews will win South Carolina's Senate seat. Another clip has Kornacki examining where the Republican candidate underperformed.

NBC's broader election-results streams also drew unusually large audiences. But the dedicated Kornacki feed makes a particular offer: stay with the person explaining the returns, including the stretches between his broadcast appearances.
