Heavy Rain Triggers Life-threatening Flooding In The Sunshine State

A black sedan inches along a residential road, sending wakes through water that covers the pavement and curb. Rain keeps falling as the camera pans across flooded yards, then turns toward another approaching vehicle.

The footage, credited on screen to Sav Olivas in Palm Bay, is brief and without speech. It shows the conditions behind FOX Weather's warning of life-threatening flooding, with little visible distinction between the street and the properties beside it.

In a follow-up report, the network says two people died in Palm Bay floodwaters and more than 100 rescues took place across Brevard County. Its broader Space Coast coverage reports road closures, closed public schools and polling locations moved for Election Day because of the flooding.

The Palm Bay Short drew roughly 90,000 views in its first day, more than ten times the channel's usual start for that format. Several other reports from the same flooding also drew unusually large audiences, including its longer Space Coast update.

A separate rescue clip offers a closer account of the response: FOX Weather says Rick Addante helped Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission personnel carry his elderly neighbor and the neighbor's dog, Bella, to an airboat and safety.
