Viewers have a company in mind: Arasaka. Under IGN Movie Trailers' upload of "Karoshi - Official Trailer," comparisons to Cyberpunk 2077's fictional megacorporation keep appearing, alongside jokes about an HR department staffed by ninjas.

The connection is the audience's, not an announced adaptation. Karōshi takes place in a near-future Manhattan where Ikigai Technologies wraps its demands for corporate loyalty in the language of samurai honor. An executive praises employee commitment and sacrifice; the action that follows gives those words a much harsher meaning.

Teo Yoo's protagonist arrives with glasses, blue robes and a paper umbrella. That last accessory becomes part of his arsenal when armored guards confront him. The contrast has also caught viewers' attention: the actor familiar from Past Lives is fighting his way through a very different working environment.

The upload reached about 82,000 views in its first 11 hours, already far beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for uploads of this length. Its comment section has likewise passed the usual first-day activity many times over, with viewers making connections to Equilibrium, John Wick and samurai films.

IGN also has a fast-starting trailer for The Gallerist, Natalie Portman's art-world comedy thriller. But Karōshi's particular office nightmare comes from writer-director Takashi Doscher, with John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski producing. It opens in theaters on February 5, 2027.
