Isaias "Quickly Intensifying" on its way to a Friday Gulf landfall
Four FOX Weather briefings on the storm ran far ahead of a usual first day, and under the busiest one, commenters keep naming Bryan Norcross and his night through Hurricane Andrew.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 502,952 views a day, 17 times a normal first day on this channel (29,603).
Tropical Storm Isaias Is Quickly Intensifying With Dangerous Impacts On The Horizon
A regular FOX Weather video usually ends its first day with around 30,000 views. "Tropical Storm Isaias Is Quickly Intensifying With Dangerous Impacts On The Horizon" passed 200,000 in seven hours.
The forecast explains the hurry. The description says the storm is strengthening fast in the Gulf, is expected to become a hurricane by Thursday, and could hit the coast Friday into Saturday, with several Gulf Coast states in its path. The tags on a companion analysis name Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Isaias filled the whole day. Three more briefings, all billed as Hurricane Specialist Bryan Norcross's, also ran well past the usual: one on the storm gaining strength, one on what a landfall could look like, and one on it becoming the season's first Atlantic hurricane. A separate update with meteorologist Steve Bender covered evacuations in Alabama and Florida. The channel as a whole is not running above its normal pace, so the attention is on this one storm.
In the comments on the top video, viewers name the explainer as Norcross. Many praise how plainly he explains the science, and several remember him from Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Others ask practical questions: whether the storm could drift east before turning north, and what it means for Dauphin Island. One person jokes that he never seems to stop for breath.
The Pacific is busy too. Hurricane Rachel is making a rare turn toward Baja and Southern California, which the channel is calling a coast-to-coast double threat.

Use to watch him as a kid he’s the goat
@CeoVisionHubSee it on YouTubeBrian Norcross did a great service, back when Hurricane Andrew, a Cat. 4 or 5, hit Florida. He talked people through it, preventing chaos.
@roslyndecanio81See it on YouTubeDitto to all of Bryan’s complements below. During Hurricane Andrew he did a fantastic job, I listened to every word he said.
@captdbj3984See it on YouTubeAs with all storms in the Gulf, what are the chances of it moving further east before it's northern turn
