Flash flooding hits the Hill Country, a day after FOX 7 Austin's storm warning

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 53,624 views a day, 51 times a normal first day on this channel (1,058).
Texas weather: Severe storms hit the Hill Country | FOX 7 Austin
The storms came. A day after meteorologist Zack Shields told Central Texas that flooding was possible, as we reported here, FOX 7 Austin posted a short clip of what followed: heavy rain across the Hill Country on Thursday, and flash flooding with it.
The video is brief, a Short with a plain news title, the kind the station puts up all the time. A first day for one of those usually brings around a thousand views. This one passed 55,000 in a little more than a day. Its comment section, which normally stays almost silent, filled with a few dozen replies.
The Hill Country has reason to watch the rain closely. The deadly Guadalupe River floods of July 2025 hit Kerr County hardest, and Kerrville comes up in the comments. Most of the talk, though, is about the ground itself. Several viewers point to the terrain and say the water runs off those hills the same way year after year. Others ask why the rain is not caught and stored for the dry spells that tend to follow, and one wonders why Texas does not dig zanjas, open ditches to carry the water away.
The station told the story twice. A day after the English clip, it posted the same flooding in Spanish under its FOX 7 Español banner, alongside news on SNAP rules and security at the Texas Capitol.
