Off-duty detective stabbed several times in the Bronx
FOX 5 New York sent reporter Stephanie Bertini to the Bronx after an off-duty NYPD detective was stabbed several times. Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed the attack, the station's description says, and Bertini's report came live from the scene.
The clip, "Off-duty detective stabbed several times in the Bronx," passed 25,000 views in its first seven hours. A regular FOX 5 video usually finishes its entire first day with fewer than 3,000. The comments moved faster still: more than 200 in those seven hours, on a channel where a new video normally collects only a handful in a day.
Most of the conversation is less about the report itself than about the city. Many viewers ask how safe New York really is, and whether crime is truly falling. Others raise practical questions: whether the detective was armed while off duty, and whether police have released a description of the attackers.
The same day, the station also posted its hour-long special on the 25th Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk, which went ahead through a Nor'easter's wind and rain. It also posted a lighter segment on a new website that claims to tell you whether you are a "real New Yorker." Neither came close to the Bronx report, which carried the channel's day almost on its own.

The numbers
One breaking-news report from the Bronx pulled far more viewers and comments than a FOX 5 video usually does in its first day.
