Jesús de Miguel died on Tuesday morning after being hospitalized following a collision during Tenerife's match against Andorra, Spain's newspaper EL PAÍS reports. The striker was 30.
The report traces the emergency from the closing minutes of Monday's game, when De Miguel collided with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono. According to the report, De Miguel suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest, and the match was suspended.
He was taken urgently to Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in Spain's Canary Islands.
