GoFundMe Nuked a $745K Fundraiser Over One Lie
On an ordinary day, DeFranco News Clips, the channel that carries segments from Philip DeFranco's news show, draws well over a million views across its library. This week ran a little above that, and the week's last story did much of the lifting.
"A Sperm Whale Rammed And Sank A Yacht In The South Pacific" passed 400,000 views within its first seven hours. The description sets out the story: a 52-foot yacht went down mid-ocean, and four people were rescued after 18 hours.
The rest of the fifteen uploads stayed with the news cycle. Elizabeth Holmes, the Theranos founder convicted of fraud, returned in a segment about her victims' anger. GoFundMe pulled a $745,000 fundraiser over what the title calls one lie, and Arkansas governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders drew criticism from the right over a welfare ad. Pete Hegseth's firings at the Pentagon and a look at Trump's economic promises filled out the politics.
Two other new segments are also moving quickly: one on Tennessee's failed execution of Christa Pike, after which the governor paused executions for the year, and one on John Fetterman's vote on a West Bank resolution.
Among the political channels nearest its size, none drew more daily views. Don Lemon is having a strong week of his own, and Jack Cocchiarella is running a little under his usual pace.
