Al Udeid, Macgregor and fifteen interviews: Daniel Davis's war-heavy week

Col. Doug Macgregor's talk about damage to American bases reached about 185,000 views in its first eleven hours, the biggest start of the channel's week.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Among the military and geopolitics channels closest to Daniel Davis in size, none added more views over the week, and it was not close. The channel gained nearly three million, about three times what scholagladiatoria or Royal Armouries added, while Combat Veteran News and The VSO Channel ran well under their usual pace.

Fifteen uploads went up, nearly all of them conversations, and the guest list reads like Davis's regular circle. The one that took off fastest brings back Col. Doug Macgregor, the retired Army officer best known for commanding troops at the Battle of 73 Easting in the 1991 Gulf War. "HIDE THE DAMAGE, ESCALATE THE WAR" is tagged around Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and Iranian strikes on American bases, and in eleven hours it passed 185,000 views. Under it, much of the comment section is about remarks by Marco Rubio on Iran's spending, which many viewers turn back on Washington.

Alexander Mercouris, of The Duran, came on to talk about a Ukraine deal the title calls dying, and that one also got going quickly. Earlier in the week, Swiss publisher Roger Köppel spoke about Europe and the war in Ukraine, former ambassador Chas Freeman covered Gaza on the anniversary of October 7, and Antiwar.com's Dave DeCamp asked whether the United States would be drawn into Yemen. Davis also took a solo turn, on why Iran's mountains would be a deadly place for American troops.

Subscribers held fairly steady, with about a thousand added. The daily pace right now sits well below the channel's usual, even with new videos arriving almost daily, a reminder of how high that usual bar is for a channel built on near-daily long interviews.
