Toronto Mayoral Debate Oct. 6 2026 | FULL LIVESTREAM
CityNews carried Toronto's mayoral debate from start to finish. The incumbent, Olivia Chow, shared the stage with city councillor Brad Bradford at the event hosted by the United Way and the Toronto Star. Chow, a former NDP member of Parliament, won the job in the 2023 by-election. Within three hours the full stream had passed 17,000 views, far ahead of everything else the channel posted that morning.
The sharpest moment got its own clip: Chow telling Bradford that the only thing he has ever changed is his mind. In the comments under the full debate, viewers keep returning to TTC fares, property taxes and street drug use, and several ask whether youth unemployment came up at all.
The rest of the morning ran the width of the country. One report followed Alberta separatists reading the Parti Québécois win in Quebec as a lesson for the West. Another covered a Washington State resident charged with conspiracy in the Tumbler Ridge shooting. And for hockey fans there was Gavin McKenna, the Maple Leafs' first overall pick, scoring his first NHL goal on Juuse Saros in only his fourth game.
Across 15 uploads, the channel's daily views ran a little above their usual level, and about a thousand new subscribers arrived. Among local news channels of similar size, East Idaho News, CBS Chicago and NBC 6 South Florida had the busiest weeks, while CBS Miami and FOX 5 Washington DC were quieter than usual. CityNews sat in the steady middle, carried this time by a city choosing its mayor.
