Two charged in assault that left air cadet supervisor with life-altering injuries
The injuries are life-altering. A cadet supervisor was pushed to the floor during a confrontation at a Hamilton restaurant, police say, in an incident that has led to charges against a boy and a woman.
CHCH News reports that the incident began outside the Mandarin restaurant at The Centre on Barton, where young air cadets were selling Remembrance Day poppies. According to police, two youths blew an air horn into the cadets' ears. The supervisor followed the youths inside, where a physical confrontation escalated.
Officer McKenna says a woman who had no connection to those involved intervened to assist the youths. Police say the supervisor was pushed down and then struck while on the floor.
The report drew about 38,000 views in its first ten hours, far beyond the channel's usual first-day audience for Shorts.
Police charged the boy with assault and aggravated assault, and the woman with aggravated assault. A second youth was released unconditionally.
