Stranded cruisers and flooded voting sites fill CBS Miami's week
The station posted 35 videos, with its Palm Beach crash reporting drawing the largest audience.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Co-pilot killed in Palm Beach jet crash identified by family as young Boca Raton woman
South Florida's practical emergencies kept CBS Miami busy: passengers looking for a way home from PortMiami, flooded roads across Broward County, and voting sites affected by the water.
Steve Maugeri's cruise report followed the Coast Guard's detention of a ship after inspectors identified deficiencies. It became the second-most-watched new upload, and remains among the channel's busiest videos alongside coverage of torrential rain in Davie, Plantation and Weston. Peter D'Oench's separate report examined how flooding affected Election Day voting.
The week's largest audience, however, went to Morgan Rynor's report identifying co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras among those killed in the Palm Beach County jet crash. It has reached roughly 1.3 million views. The report returned to archive interviews from her time earning a pilot's license as a Boca Raton high school senior, placing her earlier ambitions alongside residents' accounts of the crash.
Election coverage also demanded a correction-focused follow-up. Joan Murray reported on Florida's unresolved 26th Congressional District contest after the Associated Press said a data-entry error had displayed incorrect results.
Across the channel, daily viewing is running at more than three times its usual level, while subscribers increased modestly over the week. Nearby NBC 6 South Florida also had a busy viewing week; WUSA9 drew a larger weekly audience, while FOX 5 Atlanta was comparatively quiet. For CBS Miami, the cruise detention and Broward flooding reports are adding fresh momentum beyond the widely watched crash coverage.
