Man fatally shot by FBI agent in Dixmoor
Chadwick Clark Jr.'s mother says she spent two hours negotiating with FBI agents before her son was fatally shot. Speaking from a car in CBS Chicago's report, she says she believed hearing her voice would bring him outside.
"They didn't have to do it," she says.
The FBI confirmed that agents were near 145th Street and Cooper Avenue in Dixmoor on Wednesday morning to serve a federal warrant when an agent was involved in a shooting. Reporter Sabrina Franza identifies Clark as a 22-year-old parolee.
Neighbor Elika Hughes describes hearing agents knock on the door, announce that they had a search warrant and ask the occupant to surrender. Her account and the mother's description of negotiations form the central eyewitness accounts in the short report.
The upload drew roughly 60,000 views in its first seven hours, already far beyond CBS Chicago's usual first-day audience for a Short.
Franza also places the death in a wider local context: it was the second fatal FBI shooting in the area within three days, following an earlier incident in Pilsen.
