Deadly plane crash investigation in Palm Beach, Florida
An eyewitness heard the dive and felt the impact before he could accept what had happened. "I didn't want to believe it was a plane," he says in CBS LA's brief report on the fatal private jet crash in Palm Beach, Florida.
The aircraft was traveling from Texas to the Bahamas when the pilot reported turbulence before a rapid descent, the station reports. All nine people aboard died. Dashcam footage shows the jet falling nose-first toward the road, followed by images of smoke and burning debris.
The report turns from the witness's account to emergency vehicles and the large crater left by the impact. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what caused the crash; the reported turbulence does not establish a cause.
The upload reached about 20,000 views in its opening seven hours, already well beyond the audience a CBS LA Short usually draws across its entire first day.
