Power Rangers... We Need To Talk...
What do Power Rangers fans do when another planned series stops moving? On Andre Black Nerd's channel, they start writing their own. Four days after "Power Rangers... We Need To Talk..." went up, the comment section is full of pitches, and the most popular one is a cartoon: viewers keep asking for an animated Power Rangers, one of them imagining it drawn in the style of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
As we reported here, the video is Andre's reaction to a Disney+ series that is not going ahead. The description says he is tired of hearing "in development" after the Netflix project went the same way. Other commenters want an ending for Hyperforce, ask him to cover Super Sentai, or say they have drifted over to Kamen Rider. One of them says this is the subject that brought them to the channel eleven years ago. The video has passed 118,000 views, and it is still adding them far faster than anything else Andre posted.
The rest of the week went back to retro television. A long walkthrough of the MeTV Toons fall schedule covered Sonic the Hedgehog, Quick Draw McGraw, Heathcliff, FernGully and a block of cartoons spun off from sitcoms. A short complaining about reboots nobody asked for followed close behind, and a Batman Miniverse unboxing and a Nick Fury sighting at Disneyland's Oogie Boogie Bash rounded things out.
The Rangers video gave the channel a lift: its daily views ran well above normal, and about 290,000 came in over the week. Among movie and TV commentary channels of a similar size, CinePals had by far the biggest week, while Let Me Explain and Star Wars Explained were quieter than usual.
