Zach Cregger's Resident Evil, billed as a comedy by Let Me Explain
The eight-day-old breakdown of the Weapons director's take on the game series has passed a quarter of a million views on a week with no new uploads.

Resident Evil Is A Comedy - Let Me Explain
Let Me Explain, the self-described "cartoon movie buddy" who sorts every film into a ticket price, from Work of Art down to Coaster, posted nothing new this week. The channel had a fresh target already working for it, though: "Resident Evil Is A Comedy - Let Me Explain," which has gone past a quarter of a million views in eight days.
The title is the joke and the argument. The film is Zach Cregger's version of Resident Evil, written with Shay Hatten, and its setup sounds nothing like the games: a medical courier named Bryan, played by Austin Abrams, stuck in one night that falls apart around him, with Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser alongside. Cregger came up through the sketch group The Whitest Kids U' Know before turning to horror with Barbarian, so a reviewer finding the laughs in his zombie film is not a stretch.
Behind it, two other recent targets are still drawing viewers at a gentler pace. "The Runner Is So Bad" takes on a Gal Gadot thriller about an attorney racing across London to save her abducted son, and the credits in its description list "Ai" beside the director and the stars, a small editorial jab of its own. "Insidious: Out of the Further," with Lin Shaye back in the series, is the oldest of the three and the slowest.
Without a new upload, the channel ran somewhat below its usual daily pace, and subscribers held at 868,000. Among the movie and TV commentary channels of similar size, CinePals had the big week, and Black Nerd Comedy ran warmer than usual too.
