Beamish DIY's 'Clever Mop Cleaning Hack!' has viewers asking why the middle goes
The mop short passed 100,000 views in its first 16 hours, while the brick, battery and electrical tricks posted around it stayed in the low thousands.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 127,833 views a day, 8.3 times a normal first day on this channel (15,362).

Why cut out the middle? That is the first question under Beamish DIY's newest short, and it is a fair one. "Clever Mop Cleaning Hack!" promises, in the words of its description, an easier way to get the dirt out of a mop and keep it fresh. Judging by the comments, the method involves taking something away from the mop before it gets better.
Not everyone is sold. Another viewer, writing in Spanish, wonders why anyone would spoil a good mop for a result they find less effective. Others simply call it clever. It is a small conversation, seven comments in all, but a short on this channel usually opens with about one.
The mop drew more than 100,000 views in 16 hours, where a new Beamish DIY short usually ends its whole first day near 15,000. Very little else on the channel matched it. An old-school trick for carrying bricks, a homemade electrical tool and a way to fix car battery cables all went up within a day of it, and none of them has left the low thousands so far.
The timing makes the mop stand out even more. Across all of its videos, the channel is drawing fewer views a day than it usually does, and the household cleaning trick is the clear exception.
