A wedge-style hand vise from 2016, rebuilt in two parts for Clickspring

Chris is reposting the vise build from the channel's early days, and Part 2, on the main tool body, has passed 150,000 views in eight days.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Chris from Clickspring has gone back to where the channel began. Over the past two weeks he has reposted his wedge-style hand vise build from 2016, which he calls a blast from the past, in two parts: first the handle and the cone that does the wedging, then the main tool body.

Nothing new went up in the last seven days, so those two old-new videos carried the week. Part 2 is the one moving fastest, and at eight days old it is gathering views about three times as quickly as Part 1. Perhaps viewers who finished the first half came back for the rest.

Further back in the list sits something very different: a sterling silver dial cut on his straight-line engine, the third video in that guilloché series. Its description opens with a passage from Marcus Aurelius about sunlight that spreads through a room without ever running out, a fitting thought for a machine that cuts one straight line after another.

The channel as a whole ran well below its usual daily pace, and the subscriber count held where it was. That puts it in good company. Nearly every DIY and building channel near its size had a slower week, and Fab Rats was the one clear exception, busy after a flood in its Utah town.
