Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Sticky Situation | Keeping Up Appearances | BBC Comedy Greats

Avoiding Mrs Barker-Finch requires rather more effort than Hyacinth Bucket anticipated. In "Sticky Situation | Keeping Up Appearances | BBC Comedy Greats", she spots the acquaintance from a stepladder, tries to conceal herself, then shuffles across the pavement with the ladder between her legs. Hat, gloves and dignity are all theoretically intact.

Patricia Routledge makes the awkward journey the centrepiece of the clip, which has drawn about 311,000 views, the largest audience among BBC Comedy Greats' seven new uploads. Viewers single out her ladder walk and facial expressions, while one recognises the everyday urge to avoid being spotted by neighbours. Hyacinth takes that impulse considerably further, seeking cover beneath a truck's tarpaulin.

Keeping Up Appearances also received a longer collection of highlights from series three and four. Elsewhere, the schedule made room for a Halloween compilation, an argument at the Meldrews' and Lieutenant Gruber's best bits from 'Allo 'Allo, featuring Guy Siner's memorably genteel German officer.

Across the channel, the week brought nearly five million views while subscribers held steady at the million mark. Daily viewing is currently below its usual level. Among nearby television channels, Prime Video AU & NZ and The Big Bang Theory had larger weekly viewing gains, while HGTV had a quieter week.

Hyacinth remains particularly busy in the archive: "Mrs Bucket and Major go for a drive..." is the channel's second-busiest video right now, behind her latest attempt to remain inconspicuous.
