Zeliha Akpinar's April short on faking a cameraman finds a second life
Posted five and a half months ago, the UK doctor's self-filming reveal is moving almost twelve times faster than usual, and the comments still credit someone else with the camera.
Why this story? The video is running at 34,165 views a day, 12 times its usual pace (2,871).
How I fake having a cameraman 😙
Zeliha Akpinar's channel is having a slightly quieter day than usual. One old short is doing much of the work anyway. "How I fake having a cameraman 😙" went up on April 16, and it is now drawing nearly twelve times its usual daily views. That one video accounts for about half of the channel's day. It has passed 2.2 million views in total.
The premise is in the title. The polished, follow-along footage in her vlogs comes from no crew at all, just her and a camera. That is close to home for a channel that has lately been about gear. One of her summer uploads compares all three of her DJI pocket cameras side by side, and under the short, several viewers pick out the kit they plan to buy, one of them naming the Pocket 4.
The comments have a running joke, and it comes from her other videos. Akpinar, a medical doctor in the UK, has lately been filming outings with a doctor coworker: a food trip in May, then "My Final Day in Oxford with my Doctor Coworker" in September. The most-liked comments insist he is the real cameraman now. Others say they assumed she had a camerawoman, or that they knew she filmed herself because they had watched everything.
A second thread is about what comes next. Some viewers say they clicked expecting a full vlog and ask for a new long one. Her most recent upload is the Oxford farewell from mid-September.

Akpinar's September vlog was her final day in Oxford. Where it flows through the city, the River Thames is traditionally known by which name?
The stretch of the Thames that runs through Oxford is traditionally called the Isis, a name used especially by the university's rowers.
