A dark wood window and a French painting finish MaCenna's European cottage bathroom

Part three of the guest bathroom series is all stain, hardware and styling, and viewers are already voting on curtains.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Three videos, one guest bathroom. MaCenna Lee's makeover series reached its finish with "EXTREME BATHROOM MAKEOVER *European Cottage* Complete Transformation," the channel's only upload of the week, and it found its audience fast: more than 140,000 views on its first day, and past 230,000 by the week's end.

The description calls it part three. After an earlier episode plastered over the shower tile without a renovation, this one warms the room up with a dark wood stain, including a trick for getting a wood look on surfaces that are not wood, then adds hardware and the styling that turns a plain bathroom into what she bills as a European cottage.

The window is what everyone is talking about. The most liked comments cheer the decision to stain its frame dark instead of leaving it light, and the viewer who suggested the paint for it turned up to say so. Below that, the room has become a group project: Roman shades in the shower curtain fabric, café curtains, stained glass or nothing at all. An artist gently warns that the original paintings from France may not love a steamy room, and more than one viewer admits the abstract portrait of a man feels like he is watching them.

The finale did most of the channel's work this week. A June video about fixing a broken gate, with a corner of broken things in its title, still pulls steady daily views and is past half a million. Overall the channel ran a little slower than usual and added about a thousand subscribers, which leaves 974,000 on the board. Among the home and DIY channels of its size, Homeworthy and 731 Woodworks had the loudest weeks, while MaCenna sat comfortably in the middle.

  • You should do cafe curtains for the window! It will be set inside the frame so the beautiful wood tone can still shine.
