Gasoline in a jar? Quickdvice's lighter tricks draw a wary crowd
Eight ways to reuse an old lighter, from drill-bit storage to a wine-cork pull, passed 700,000 views in about a day and a half, one of thirteen uploads.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
8 Clever Lighter Tricks You Should Know!
Thirty hours online and already past 700,000 views, "8 Clever Lighter Tricks You Should Know!" is the freshest thing on Quickdvice and by far the busiest. The description runs through second lives for a spent lighter: a holder for drill bits, a tiny paint carrier, a gas stove igniter, a bag sealer, a way to pull a wine cork, small soldering jobs and plastic repair.
The comments have fixed on one step. Many viewers stop at the trick that puts gasoline in a jar with an old lighter, some joking about explosions and accidental haircuts, others suggesting butane would make more sense. One viewer picks out number seven as the genuinely useful one.
Quickdvice is a hacks channel in the plainest sense: short, numbered lists for the home, kitchen and workshop. Thirteen of them went up this week. A sanitary pad video posted the same Saturday, billed with uses from sweaty feet to hiding jewelry on a trip, is the second quickest, and a fourteen-trick everyday list from Wednesday woke up after a slow first day. The angle grinder tricks from earlier in the week have gathered close to half a million views.
The channel added about 40,000 subscribers and more than 20 million views over seven days, the most views gained among the DIY and home channels near its size, where eFIXX also ran well above its usual pace.
