The Absolute Misery of Corpse Runs in WoW

Greg's sheep need rescuing. Unfortunately, the adventurers coming to help can barely survive arriving at the campsite.

Viva La Dirt League's "The Absolute Misery of Corpse Runs in WoW" has drawn roughly 346,000 views since yesterday. This is a live-action gaming sketch from its Epic NPC Man world, with a familiar frustration at its centre: dying is quick, but getting back to your body takes considerably longer.

Shinshia, Montakgal and Lishe head into the woods without flying mounts, while Alan reports his progress over party chat from somewhere considerably wetter. The trio spots the captive sheep, charges the bandits and discovers almost immediately that enthusiasm isn't adequate armour.

Then comes the real assignment. They reappear as ghosts at the graveyard, run back to their corpses and revive within striking distance of the same enemies. Each new plan buys remarkably little time. "Guys, I don't have time for this. I've only got an hour," Montakgal protests, as the walk back threatens to become the entire evening's entertainment.

The comments turn into an impromptu strategy session. Viewers suggest resurrecting at the edge of the permitted area to inch away from danger, or having one player lure the bandits aside while the others revive. Others are keeping track of Alan's swimming and wondering whether he'll arrive before Montakgal's available hour expires.
