Crossplay games be like

"Lucky dodge! But this time you shall perish!" declares the archer. His intended victim hasn't moved.

That is the problem in Viva La Dirt League's "Crossplay games be like", a staged fantasy-game sketch that has drawn around 820,000 views in its first sixteen hours, far beyond the channel's usual first-day audience for Shorts.

The archer has red robes, a bow and considerable confidence. What he lacks is any apparent connection between where he aims and where his arrows go. His opponent watches the erratic shooting before asking the question that explains the joke: is he playing on a console?

"Why yes, the mighty Xbox," comes the proud reply. The other player is on PC. Crossplay has put them in the same forest, but the sketch exaggerates the difference between controller and mouse-and-keyboard aiming until a straightforward duel becomes an exercise in patience. Eventually, the warrior offers a free shot at point-blank range. The archer still needs a lengthy aiming routine.

Viewers are supplying their own gaming explanations, especially stick drift and the alternative absurdity of overly helpful aim assist. Others pick out the captions flying away with the arrows and the archer's increasingly strained noises. The comment section has already passed a dozen times the channel's usual full-day total for a Short.

It isn't the group's only fast-starting upload: "The horror of using cheats" is also drawing an unusually large Shorts audience, giving Viva La Dirt League another gaming frustration to play with.
