Viva La Dirt League makes movie night a delivery-time panic
Rowan and Britt try to choose something before dinner arrives, while viewers share their own ways out of endless scrolling.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 355,436 views a day, 5.8 times a normal first day on this channel (61,398).
The anxiety of choosing what to watch
The food has been picked up, and Rowan and Britt still haven't chosen a film. In Viva La Dirt League's sketch, the delivery tracker becomes a countdown to the most ordinary of domestic crises: dinner arriving before there's anything to watch.
"The anxiety of choosing what to watch" has drawn nearly 300,000 views in sixteen hours, putting it well ahead of the channel's usual start for a Short. For a group known for finding absurdity in video-game rules, this one needs no fantasy world. The obstacle is agreeing on an evening's entertainment.
Britt proposes Friends at the outset. Rowan wants a movie instead and believes they can manage it. What follows is a steadily less hopeful exchange of genres, familiar titles and reasons not to watch them. Forrest Gump, Fury and Marvel films enter the discussion; each phone check makes the decision more urgent.
Eventually, Rowan's resistance collapses into singing the Friends theme. Viewers keep mentioning the singing and accompanying clapping, but the comments also contain practical responses to the predicament.
One viewer is watching while waiting for food and making exactly the same decision. Others describe alternating who gets to pick, keeping a shared watchlist, or remembering when the argument required a trip to the video shop. One has turned the whole process into a lucky dip: unwatched titles on slips of paper in a jar, with a limited number of vetoes.

What viewers say
I'm watching this while deciding what to watch as food is on the way XD
@WhatIsSanitySee it on YouTubeIt was even worse when we had to go to the video store. We'd have to get in a car, drive across town, then debate what to watch while standing around.
@IdleVillager-11See it on YouTubeHearing Rowan singing the friends theme cracked me right up 🤣🤣🤣

The wife and I used to do this. Now i pick a movie one night, she picks the next time. That way we both get to watch what we want and there's no bickering. I really wish we would have started doing this sooner. It's so much better than what's going on in the video
@senileshooters1126See it on YouTubeI kinda went retro to dispel this kind of anxiety; I got a mason jar, put all the movies in my watchlist on Netflix, Amazon + my unwatched DVDs onto pieces of paper and just threw them into the jar. I only get 3 vetos and fortunately, I don't have the relationship dilemma. ☺️
@TheHufflepuffSaintSee it on YouTubeThe answer is usually 'Big Trouble in Little China', or 'Tremors'.
@Sylph_hSee it on YouTubeThe clapping at the end is 🤌
@rhysbonney3720See it on YouTubeIt’s worse with more people! Last night I was hanging with 4 of my friends - we argued for an hour about what to watch. We fell asleep past midnight with the Lego Movie playing 😭
