The candy changes direction. Nick Wilkins arrives at a house dressed as Superman, but his group's most important accessory isn't a cape or a candy basket. It's a freestanding door.

In the sketch, they carry it onto the porch, knock on the house's door and hide behind their own. The resident emerges holding candy, only to find another entrance facing him. He knocks. Nick's group answers as though the porch belongs to them.

The Short has passed ten million views in roughly thirty hours, with an opening-day audience about six times Nick's usual for the format. It's a different kind of household comedy from his enormous toddler-morning-routine hit: instead of remembering childhood rules, this one simply reverses them.

Viewers are picking out the resident's hesitation and his willingness to play along. The group even makes him go through the familiar doorstep ritual, asking about his costume and prompting him for the magic words. His uncertain "Trick or treat?" earns a delivery of candy into his own basket, before the visitors take their door away.
