Nine killed in fiery Florida plane crash | Today Show Australia
Dashcam footage shows a business jet plunging towards a West Palm Beach street before erupting in flames. In TODAY's report, correspondent Lauren Tomasi says the US Secretary of Transport confirmed that everyone on board was killed.
The aircraft was a Learjet 60 carrying nine people. Footage of the immediate aftermath shows bystanders running amid smoke and debris, with burned wreckage scattered across the roadway. Another shot shows an impact crater beside a residential property.
Tomasi reports that the aircraft lost considerable altitude in about a minute. The footage documents its descent and impact, but does not establish what caused the crash.
The Short drew more than 200,000 views in seven hours, far beyond the few thousand TODAY's Shorts usually receive across a full first day. A separate report on the same crash also attracted an unusually large audience, describing the aircraft coming down in a residential area of Palm Beach County.
In the main report, Tomasi says local authorities are expected to provide a further update.
