Jacob Rees-Mogg corrects Tucker Carlson on NATO, and David Pakman plays it back
Pakman's segment on a former British cabinet minister setting the record straight drew a heavily British comment section, many of them surprised to be agreeing with Rees-Mogg.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 436,663 views a day, 8.2 times a normal first day on this channel (52,960).
Tucker interviews smart person, INSTANT DISASTER
David Pakman found his latest hit in an unusual pairing: Tucker Carlson and Jacob Rees-Mogg. In "Tucker interviews smart person, INSTANT DISASTER", from his October 5 show, Pakman walks through a Carlson interview in which, as the description puts it, the former British cabinet minister corrects his host on economic statistics and on the history of NATO.
Rees-Mogg is a familiar name in Britain. He served as Leader of the House of Commons under Boris Johnson and as Business Secretary under Liz Truss, and he lost his North East Somerset seat in the 2024 general election. Carlson, after leaving Fox News in 2023, built his own interview operation, and this is the kind of transatlantic conversation it was made for.
The clip drew close to 440,000 views on its first day, several times what a new segment on the channel usually gets. Comments came in about seven times faster than usual, and they lean heavily British. Many of those viewers say they never expected to find themselves on Rees-Mogg's side. Others take issue with the title's "smart person," saying the label only works next to Carlson. A few reach back to Andrew Neil's famous BBC interview with Ben Shapiro as the obvious comparison.
It carried the channel's day as well. Pakman's daily views ran well above their usual pace, with the Nebraska rally segments from the same day trailing far behind this one.
