Trump's 'morally binding' AI pledge gives David Pakman 430,000 views in seven hours
It is the third upload in four days to start far above the show's usual pace, while a next-day follow-up on the same event has drawn only a sliver of that.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 981,321 views a day, 17 times a normal first day on this channel (58,940).
Trump TWITCHING WITH ANGER at reporter
What does it mean when a president calls a voluntary agreement "morally binding"? That phrase is at the center of "Trump TWITCHING WITH ANGER at reporter," the David Pakman Show clip of Donald Trump taking questions from reporters with tech executives beside him, as they announced a voluntary pact on artificial intelligence. The title promises a president losing his temper at a reporter. The description is plainer: an AI deal with no legal force, presented as one the companies are honor-bound to keep.
Seven hours after it went up, the clip had passed 430,000 views. At that pace its first day lands around sixteen times what a new Pakman upload usually draws. It is the third such start in four days, after the "BOMBSHELL" video and the Presidents Cup hecklers. The whole channel is drawing more than twice its usual daily views.
In the comments, two things keep coming up. One is the phrase itself, and whether a voluntary promise can bind anyone. The other is the row of executives standing behind the president. A smaller thread wants data centers kept out of party politics altogether.
Pakman went back to the same event the next day. "Trump just revealed his REAL PLAN, and it's TERRIFYING" looks at Trump's case for letting tech regulate itself and his dismissal of local worries about data centers. So far it has drawn a small fraction of the original clip. Among the uploads around it, the one that came closest was the Senate hearing in which Sen. Eric Schmitt confused the Iowa Hawkeyes with the Atlanta Hawks.
Other political talk channels near Pakman's size are also busy. Megyn Kelly, Matt Walsh and The Rubin Report are all running well above their usual daily pace.
