Sort Of Interesting gives a squeeze stile its own action shot

A wooden post becomes a countryside tongue-twister in a Short drawing far more views than the channel's usual start.

So much more than a stick! It’s a simple stile! #rural #countrylife #walking #farming #hiking

"Is this just a piece of wood?" asks the presenter, patting a post in the dark. Sort Of Interesting has a more elaborate answer: it is a squeeze stile, and describing it requires almost as much verbal footwork as crossing it requires actual walking.

The explanation runs through a single standing stick, a double step and a stone slab, piling up variations on "style" and "stile". Then comes the demonstration, grandly announced as an action shot: the presenter walks through the gap.

That modest countryside spectacle drew roughly 30,000 views in its first sixteen hours. A usual Short on the channel gets around 6,000 across its whole first day.

Viewers are picking up on the deliberately undramatic action sequence and adding their own alliteration. Others ask what the stick does and how the gap stops animals getting through. One draws a comparison with making walkable gaps in Minecraft fences.

Stiles are familiar territory for Sort Of Interesting, not a sudden detour from its outdoor adventures. Its most-watched Short asks which style of stile is best, while gates and other field boundaries feature throughout its most-watched short uploads. Here, the smallest structure gets the most elaborate introduction.
