Gridlessness builds a dome with a secret cabin entrance

The aircrete test structure gets a fiberglass skin before the family's planned earth-covered home.

  5. 15:02An initial resin batch hardens prematurely in its tray.
  6. 18:18Fiberglass cloth and a fresh resin batch go onto the dome's exterior.

The forms are off. Gridlessness's aircrete test dome has reached the stage where the family can clear out the wooden supports, inspect the shell and cut a connecting entrance into the cabin.

No new uploads arrived this week, but "I am IN LOVE with AIRCRETE! Off-Grid, Earth-Covered Dome" is the channel's busiest video right now. Posted a fortnight ago, it has reached roughly 166,000 views. It's a construction update with plenty of learning left visible: newer edges crumble as forms come away, while a later resin batch hardens in its tray before it can do its intended job.

The material itself gets a kitchen comparison. "It feels like meringue. Thousands of little tiny bubbles," the host says. Later, his partner climbs onto the cured shell to test it, and the crew applies fiberglass cloth over the exterior. This is a smaller trial structure for the earth-covered dome home, not the finished house. The video also contains a sponsored careers segment.

Gridlessness credits Paul from Geo-Dome for the design help and Ben from NightHawkInLight for the aircrete approach. The earlier dome-building installment remains among its busiest uploads, alongside September's stone sheep hunt: building shelter and heading into the wilderness continue to share the channel's attention.

Subscribers grew modestly over the week, while daily views are close to their usual level. Nearby outdoors channels had varied weeks, with Big Water Guy drawing a particularly substantial audience and Lost Lakes recording no subscriber gain. For Gridlessness, the most absorbing work is close to the cabin: making that experimental shell into usable space.
