A petition for Sepang: Sky Sports F1's highlights of the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia
Max Verstappen's first win of 2026 came from a race delayed twice by rain, and the comments are mostly asking for the circuit to stay on the calendar.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 629,333 views a day, 21 times a normal first day on this channel (29,370).
Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia Extended Highlights | F1 2026
Sky Sports F1 posted the extended highlights of a race with a strange name: the Bahrain Grand Prix, run in Malaysia. In seventeen hours the reel passed half a million views. A new video on the channel usually closes its first full day with under 30,000.
The description promises chaos, and the race supplied it. The start was delayed twice, rain fell, and Max Verstappen came through all of it for his first win of the season. Kimi Antonelli finished second and strengthened his title bid. His Mercedes teammate George Russell retired a few laps from the end while the safety car was out.
The comment section is busier than the race was. It filled about eight times faster than a usual first day, and most of it is about the track, not the result. Viewers want Malaysia back every year and say wide run-off and room for several lines beat the street circuits, with Madrid's new Madring a favorite target. Others write about the noise of the crowd, especially for Lewis Hamilton. Many complain that his climb from 18th to third barely made the cut.
The channel covered that climb separately. Its Hamilton breakdown is one of the day's other big uploads, and the Ferrari driver says his heart sank when the team started him on softs while most of the field chose intermediates. A short clip of the chaotic formation lap and Russell and Toto Wolff on the costly retirement also ran well ahead of the channel's usual. The Sepang weekend is filling most of the channel's day.
