Half the download, and a pirate crowd that asks for more music

Production Director Drew's October 1 Dev Update also covered Emporium shanties, fairer bundle pricing and Last Ship Standing tests with Brigantines.

Two uploads, one message. Rare's official Sea of Thieves channel spent its week on a single piece of news: the game is getting lighter, by up to half its file size, and the leaner version will mean one full, smaller download when it arrives.

The full Developer Update carried it. Production Director Drew walks through the results of the Big Ship, Little Ship experiment, Last Ship Standing testing with Brigantines, new shanties for the Emporium and bundle prices that adjust for items players already own. It passed 127,000 views, and a short cut of the file-size announcement followed it out the same day.

The comments read like a wish list. Many viewers simply call the shrink a step in the right direction, and one does the math: a single redownload of roughly 40 GB to save roughly 40 GB. Others go straight to the music, asking for more shanties, while a long-running argument about sloops versus bigger crews has broken out again. One sharp-eyed reader also noticed the title briefly said September instead of October.

Outside the update, the channel ran at about a third of its usual daily pace, and subscribers held flat. Among the game publisher channels close to its size, Total War gathered the most views over the week, while Rocket League Esports was the one running above its normal level. Sea of Thieves sat in the middle of that group, its Season 21 trailer from September still drawing a few hundred views a day.
