"The Next Chapter for Bungie": Destiny, Marathon and a new way of working
Bungie's two-week-old address about its future has passed 1.19 million views, and nothing new has gone up since.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
The Next Chapter for Bungie
On an ordinary day, Bungie's channel draws around 30,000 views. Right now it is closer to 11,000, and almost all of that traffic goes to one video.
That video is "The Next Chapter for Bungie," posted fifteen days ago. The description keeps it brief: a look at the studio's future, its plans for Destiny and Marathon, and changes to how the team works. It has gathered nearly 1.2 million views, and it still brings in a few thousand a day. Nothing new went up in the past seven days, so the address is effectively the channel's front page.
For a studio that wrote Halo's first chapters and then built Destiny into a long-running shared world, a video about direction is no small thing. Perhaps viewers are still coming back to it to reread the plans.
Further down, two Bungie Foundation films keep their slow pace. One follows Tucker, an 18-year-old cancer survivor who used his Make-A-Wish wish to bring gaming consoles to the pediatric oncology unit where he was treated. Subscribers grew by about a thousand.
Among the game publisher channels close to its size, Total War, XBOX ON and Rocket League Esports had the busiest weeks. Rocket League Esports ran above its usual pace, while Sea of Thieves, like Bungie, was quieter than normal.
