It's Official: Zatara is SOLD, and the Z-Crew hands over the keys in Tahiti
The farewell episode, with a new owner, a snorkel over a sunken airplane and one last sail to Moorea, has passed 355,000 views in twelve days.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
It's Official: Zatara is SOLD!
Twelve days after it went up, "It's Official: Zatara is SOLD!" is still the video doing most of the work on Sailing Zatara. It is the end of a long chapter: the 2006 Privilege 585 catamaran that carried Renee, her husband and their kids around the world after they sold their Texas home in 2016 now belongs to someone else.
The chapters tell the story in order. The family flies out of LAX, meets the new owner, and runs what they call Zatara University, a crash course in how the boat works. Then come fuel, a snorkel over an airplane wreck, the genoa going up and a final sail to Moorea, the island next door to Tahiti.
The two other videos still drawing a crowd sit on either side of that goodbye. "Was that our Last Sail on Zatara?" from August carried the big announcement after a motorsail into Tahiti and a stop to watch the surf at Teahupo'o. "FINALLY WEATHERPROOF!" is from the family's new life on land in Montana: water damage, a barn sealed against winter and a vote on whether to get a bunny.
Nothing new went up over the past seven days, and the channel ran at well under a third of its usual daily pace, the quietest week among the travel channels near its size. Chris Must List and Ame in a van, by contrast, are both running ahead of their norm. For a family that just stepped off its boat after a circumnavigation, a pause between oceans and pastures seems fair enough.
