What follows a brand-new Tulsa King trailer on Paramount Plus? A film from 2014. The streaming service posted a short clip from Edge of Tomorrow, titled "Need #TomCruise to explain everything to me from now on.", and within nine hours it had drawn more than twenty times the views a new upload there usually gets on its first day.

The clip is climbing on a slower stretch for the channel. Paramount Plus as a whole is drawing well under its usual daily views, and the other big streaming and TV channels, from Apple TV to Disney Plus, are also running below their norms.

Edge of Tomorrow is the Doug Liman science-fiction film in which Cruise plays William Cage, an officer who dies in battle against alien invaders and wakes up to live the same day again. It was sold under the line "Live. Die. Repeat." The title doesn't say what Cruise is explaining, only that someone would happily hand him the job for good.
