Chanterelles fill Nicolle's basket on Off Grid w/ Jake & Nicolle

The week's only upload follows a forest harvest, from mushrooms hidden beneath ferns to a tray of chanterelles, lobster mushrooms and a large bolete.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Fall means Mushrooms!! 🍄‍🟫🍄 #offgrid #mushroom #foraging #harvest

Nicolle lifts ferns and forest debris to reveal a yellow chanterelle, then finds more farther uphill. A woven backpack basket leaves her hands free for the picking, with a pocket knife doing the careful work at ground level.

"Fall means Mushrooms!! 🍄‍🟫🍄 #offgrid #mushroom #foraging #harvest" was Off Grid w/ Jake & Nicolle's only new upload this week, drawing about 28,000 views. The short outing also takes in puffballs on a mossy log before Nicolle lays out the day's varied haul on a wide woven tray.

The comments connect this trip to a longer-running autumn ritual. One viewer remembers the channel's mushroom outings and their different shapes and colors; another notices the dogs watching Nicolle with intense curiosity. Elsewhere, viewers have a different request: a look inside the container house and an update on how the build is coming along.

Firewood, rather than foraging, is carrying the most momentum right now. "Bonus Firewood 🪵 🔥😮‍💨 #offgrid #firewood" is attracting roughly twice the daily viewing of the recent upload about getting the wood put away before rain. Both are drawing more daily views than the new mushroom trip.

Subscribers held steady over the week, while today's channel-wide viewing is about half its usual pace. That softer daily rhythm is shared by nearby outdoor channels including Mav and Self Sufficient Me. Back in Jake and Nicolle's catalog, the next-busiest upload brings the work to the dinner table: prawns cooked with garlic and butter on a hibachi, using homemade coals.
