【闇バイト強盗致死】実行役2人に無期懲役の判決 千葉地裁
Following orders did not make their role dispensable. A Japanese court has sentenced two men to life imprisonment over a fatal robbery in Yokohama and other crimes, stressing that the offenses could not have happened without those who carried them out.
Japan's Nippon Television News reports that the Chiba District Court delivered the sentences on November 6. The case forms part of a series of robberies across the Tokyo metropolitan region in 2024 associated with "yami baito," illicit work presented as part-time employment.
According to the report, the men assaulted a resident to death and stole cash at a home in Yokohama's Aoba Ward in October 2024. They were also tried over involvement in several incidents in Chiba Prefecture.
The broadcast shows footage of the defendants being transported, followed by courtroom illustrations as the sentencing reasons are read out. The court described the methods as extremely malicious, citing severe violence against elderly people and women even after their resistance had been suppressed.
The judges acknowledged that organizers and others higher in the hierarchy deserved greater condemnation. But, according to the report, they concluded that both defendants had performed indispensable roles: without perpetrators on the ground, the crimes could not have been committed.
