If 'Pyramid Song' Was Written On a Guitar

A handheld electronic bow gives Nikola Gugoski's "Pyramid Song" arrangement its second voice. First come the strummed chords, with diagrams on screen; then the picture splits, and sustained guitar notes rise over drums, bass and ambient layers. Radiohead's piano-centered song becomes something you can approach from a fretboard.

"If 'Pyramid Song' Was Written On a Guitar" was the most watched of his three new uploads, reaching roughly 18,000 views. Beneath it, viewers are trying to work out how to count the rhythm, comparing their own attempts at the strumming and asking about the second guitar's effects. The timing is as much a talking point as the sound.

The other Radiohead experiment, "If 'Just' by Radiohead Stayed in One Key", puts the song in C major before offering a quick explanation. It currently has the strongest daily momentum among the channel's individual videos. For anyone wanting a more conventional practice session, "Soundgarden - Outshined (Guitar lesson with TAB)" works through the intro, verses, choruses, solo and bridge.

The audience grew by another thousand subscribers over the week, though daily viewing is below its usual level. Among nearby music-lesson channels, Andrew Piano had a much larger viewing week, while Nikola Gugoski collected more weekly views than KALONICA NICX and Steve Stine Guitar Lessons.

Beyond the new lessons, September's "John Frusciante At His Peak" keeps drawing attention to the "Wet Sand" solo at Pinkpop in 2006. The older Bloc Party upload is active too, offering another very different guitar pleasure: repeating the riff from "Helicopter".
