Cricket's Head, a Sacred Heart and six days of Isaac runs for Lazy Mattman

Every upload was a fresh run of The Binding of Isaac, and the newest, billed as the luckiest of the year, opened faster than any of the others.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

On an ordinary stretch, Lazy Mattman's channel pulls in well over half a million views a day. Right now it is closer to half that, and still no channel near its size gathered more views over the week, about five million in all.

The formula never changes, and his audience would not want it to. Matt, whose entire about text reads "hi im matt and i play games," posted one Binding of Isaac run every day from September 29 to October 4, each with a superlative in the title and a deadpan line in the description promising the most of something "in the history of isaac." A fast Cricket's Head, a lucky Sacred Heart, a rare transformation, an Eden with a wild first floor, a reroll. Each one opened with roughly a quarter of a million views. The newest, "This Is The LUCKIEST Run Of The Year:", was the quickest of them all to get there.

Under the Cricket's Head run, the comments read like a club newsletter. One regular is counting the days of thanking him for a daily Isaac upload. Others noticed he skipped his usual greeting. Several caught him praising Telekinesis as the perfect answer to the boss Hush, then never using it once against Hush.

Among the let's-play channels around him, Plenty and Dead Squirrel ran a little above their usual pace, while javeus, like Matt, sat below his. The channel added about 2,000 subscribers over the week.

What viewers say

  • the lack of the "what's up gamers" is the fastest and fattest mattman moment EVER
    @gabvideosnstuffSee it on YouTube
  • What a.... uh... what a cricket start, clever
    @CazueloptpwSee it on YouTube
  • Going on about how people never use active items and just sit on them, proceeds to not use Telekinesis for 3 floors. Rants about how Telekinesis is the ultimate counter to Hush, doesn't use it a single time. Never change Mattman. Never change.
