OneyPlays starts 'THE LAST OF US,' and viewers bet it won't reach the end
Days after a complete Subnautica 2 series, the channel opens Naughty Dog's zombie classic on PC, and the comments are full of jokes about two-episode runs.
OneyPlaysStory of Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 213,336 views a day, 9.3 times a normal first day on this channel (22,832).
THE LAST OF US
OneyPlays has started The Last of Us. The new let's play, recorded on the PC version of Naughty Dog's 2013 survival story, passed 100,000 views in its first nine hours. A regular video here usually ends its whole first day at a fraction of that.
The game needs little introduction. Joel, a hardened smuggler, crosses a ruined America with Ellie, a teenage girl who may hold the key to the fungal outbreak that turned much of humanity into the Infected. The tags point to Part I, the rebuilt version that later came to PC. That is a long, quiet, often grim game for a channel whose about text describes it as the place for gaming videos and "whatever I want."
That contrast is what the comment section enjoys. Some of the most liked replies give the channel's name a biblical ring. Others doubt the run will last, noting that a game with more than a couple of hours of content rarely gets finished here, and predicting two episodes at most.
The doubters have one thing to answer this week. On October 2 the channel posted "SUBNAUTICA 2 (Complete Series)", the whole thing in one upload. Meanwhile the smaller shorts around it, such as "Chewing on Adam" and "Pomni's Biggest Fan", kept to the channel's usual pace.
