LIVE: Uncle On Trial For Murder — NC v. David Prevatte — Day 4
A long live stream on Law&Crime Trials usually gathers around twelve thousand views across its entire first day. Day four of North Carolina v. David Prevatte passed 168,000 in its first seven hours.
Prevatte faces charges of first-degree murder and multiple sex offenses in the death of his five-year-old niece. She was found unresponsive in 2017 and died three days later. The video's description says an autopsy found signs of sexual trauma and strangulation. Prevatte was identified as a suspect in 2018 and arrested in 2022, so the case is being heard nearly nine years after her death. He has not been convicted.
The comments came in about five times faster than on a usual first day for one of the channel's long streams. Much of the conversation follows the medical examiner's testimony. Several viewers single out how clearly the examiner explained the findings, and others write about how hard it is to listen to the autopsy of a young child. One of the most liked comments asks why the camera stayed on the judge rather than the defendant.
A shorter clip from the same case also drew a large audience. It comes from a recorded police interview in which investigators asked Prevatte about blood found in a vehicle, and he pointed to his girlfriend.
The same day, the channel opened a second courtroom. Lakeeta Vaccaro Hill accuses her husband, former Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill, of domestic violence during their 18-month marriage, and his attorney calls the allegations false. The first day of that civil trial was the channel's other big stream, though it stayed behind the Prevatte trial.
