A 'Prison Love Story!' that ends on two words: 'baby mama'

Matthew Cox's newest short drew about twelve times the comments of a usual full first day, most of them about how the storyteller names the woman in it.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 1,120,330 views a day, 16 times a normal first day on this channel (69,154).

Prison Love Story!

Matthew Cox spent 13 years in federal prison for bank fraud, and his channel is built on the stories he heard there and the people he now interviews about their crimes. His newest short, "Prison Love Story!", passed 890,000 views within 15 hours of going up.

The title promises romance behind bars, and the comment section has settled on how it ends. The most liked comments all go back to one moment: when the storyteller talks about the woman at the center of it, he calls her his baby mama, not his wife and not even his girlfriend. Other viewers are writing about the prison setting itself. One says prison sounds like high school for adults, and a former security worker at a women's prison writes about never once being tempted.

The short is not the day's only strong start. "$100K In 3 Minutes!", posted the same day, came close to 300,000 views in its first seven hours, and "Tricked By Cops!" from Saturday picked up a fresh wave of viewers. It adds to a run of prison shorts, from debts to payback, that has given the channel some 20,000 new subscribers in a week.
