Hat Films clocks in to crack a giant egg

Hatch Corp's bucket economy gives Trott, Ross and Smith plenty to argue about in their new co-op adventure.

Hat Films has found a workplace where ownership of a bucket counts as economic power. In "We try CRACK. It's a great game.", Chris Trott, Ross Hornby and Alex Smith join Hatch Corp to chip away at a mysterious giant egg, sell the fragments and buy better equipment.

Naturally, the tools become an argument. Ross takes a firm line on handouts; Smith announces, "Now I'm making the money. I control the bucket." Trott handles a shopping-terminal Captcha and eventually buys a cart to move the buckets around. Corporate morale arrives in the form of pizza slices and party hats, which is quite a reward for excavating an egg.

The introduction was the most-watched of Hat Films' 13 uploads this week, reaching roughly 40,000 views. Several viewers ask to see the job through to completion, while others pick out the cart's "YOLK" number plate and the peculiar appeal of watching the trio work through repetitive tasks together.

There is already more egg to investigate. "Robots are taking our jobs in CRACK!" and "Diving deep in our CRACK" have the channel's strongest daily viewing momentum, with the former bringing automated labour into the operation.

Elsewhere, the week took in ghost hunting in The Other Side, Alex's high-speed Star Wars Galactic Racer outing and an ambitious Minecraft balloon in Hat Corp. Across the channel, weekly viewing topped half a million, while the subscriber count stayed unchanged. Daily views are a little above normal. Nearby variety-gaming channels cdotkom and jenn had larger weekly audiences; Hat Films' own busiest viewing is concentrated on that increasingly well-equipped egg excavation.
