Why a plane door won't open mid-flight, and a like button with no plane
Gravity Dreams' aviation Short drew a comment section busy with one running joke, while a vacation clip from two days earlier passed a million views.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 1,274,040 views a day, 16 times a normal first day on this channel (80,858).
Why You Can't Open a Plane Door Mid-Flight 🔒
"Why You Can't Open a Plane Door Mid-Flight 🔒" is the latest of Gravity Dreams' quick explainer Shorts. The channel, which describes itself as exploring the stories of extraordinary people, takes a clip from another creator and adds its own script and narration. The description insists that everyone in the footage is safe, that a professional did it, and that nobody should try it.
The question is one plenty of nervous flyers have quietly asked themselves, and the tags point to the usual answer: cabin pressure. At cruising altitude the cabin is kept at a much higher pressure than the thin air outside. That difference presses the door into its frame with a force no passenger's arms could beat.
Viewers came quickly. The Short passed 879,000 views in its first twelve hours, where the channel's Shorts usually finish a whole first day far below 100,000. The comments moved fast too. There were 78 in half a day, on a channel whose Shorts usually collect about a dozen in their first 24 hours.
Very few of them are about doors. Many viewers expected the like button to turn into a little airplane when they pressed it, and when it didn't, the comment section filled with reports of the missing plane, a self-declared "Team no plane" and the odd mock emergency call about it.
It was not the channel's only good news of the day. "Why You Keep Seeing the SAME People on Vacation 👀", a family travel clip posted two days earlier, went past a million views. The Lamborghini badge Short we reported on here has climbed well beyond two and a half million, so travel, cars and planes are carrying this new million-subscriber channel through its first weeks at that size.
