Glass pressure tests join Tom Coolen's exhaust-and-rust workshop week
Three uploads range from a glass carboy experiment to a Duramax resonator installation that has passed a million views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Twister vs Straight Pipe!
Tom Coolen put a glass carboy to a pressure test, wrestled with rust and fitted a customer's exhaust parts across three new uploads. The workshop had variety, even if the loudest conversation came down to whether a truck sounded much different afterward.
"Twister vs Straight Pipe!" has reached roughly 1.3 million views and is comfortably the channel's busiest video right now. Beyond the before-and-after revving, there's a small fabrication job tucked inside: Tom shapes a U-bolt rod in a vise, then welds it into place as a custom exhaust hanger. The customer supplied the parts; making them work takes some workshop improvisation.
Viewers are comparing the rasp and volume, with some hearing little change and others picking out a softer edge. One likens the exercise to listening to guitar-pickup comparison clips, a familiar predicament when subtle sound differences have to survive a recording.
"Scary Pressure test! Glass Carboy" asks whether the vessel can handle the pressure promised in its description, while "Free from the hub, but still holding!" returns to stubborn, rusty hardware. The previous week's "Stuck axle?" also remains among Tom's strongest daily draws.
The channel added about 3,000 subscribers over the week, and daily views are substantially above their usual level. Among nearby motoring channels, Oakland Auto Detail had a particularly substantial week and Burlacher was quieter. Tom's own week's clearest draw was the exhaust job, with the older axle struggle providing a persistent mechanical encore.

This is like guitar pickup comparison clips 😂
@Tyler-o6v9hSee it on YouTubeHas a little less rasp but the loudness is there
@georgecasselbury5469See it on YouTubeI love watching videos of mechanics in the north. I live in the south now and the rust is nearly nonexistent, but i do appreciate the mad amounts of extra work these guys go through.
